The handmade porcelain ring dish has a quirkily illustrated design based on the traditional image of Saint Dwynwen . This cute dish is definitely a perfect gift for anyone looking to represent Welsh history, culture, and heritage.
I have hand built the dish and then carefully dried and biscuit fired it.The next step is painting it with underglaze .Its then glazed and fired to a high temperature.

The story of Saint Dwynwen is that she left home to prevent her father from making her marry for power or greed. She became a nun and travelled Wales, setting up churches and praying for those who were troubled in love. Her final stop was the island of Llanddwyn, off the coast of Anglesey,(near where I live) where the remains of Dwynwen's church can be seen today.
Dydd Santes Dwynwen or St Dwynwen's Day celebrates love and lovers and takes place every year on the 25th of January. Often referred to as the Welsh St Valentine's Day, there's a heartbreaking love story behind this cherished saint, who holds a special place in Welsh hearts.
